Tribute to Mama. Enid Segree Hall 7/27/1931 - 3/14/2021

Enid Segree Hall, a name that rings synonymous with selflessness, virtue, resilience, and love.

You only had to spend 1 minute with her to be completely enamored with her vibrant spirit, and jovial heart. To say she was a light in the dark would be an understatement. Born in the tropical paradise of Jamaica on Monday July 27, 1931, Enid was no stranger to struggle and the value of hard work. Her resilience cultivated through many years of hardship and uncertainty, but Enid never relented in her faith in God and her love of humanity. She became a leader in her community helping others who were less fortunate with what little she had. The story of her life is one that inspires us today and will continue to inspire future generations. She reminds us that though you come from humble beginnings, you can rise to any height with God in your heart and strong purpose in your mind.

Enid was always extremely positive despite being moved around from home to home at a young age. She married an up and coming farmer and landowner in Jamaica, Nuland Hall, and began a life as a housewife and co-owner of the family farm. The marriage did not last however, and the couple separated. This did not deter Enid and she continued to forge ahead as best she could. She successfully raised four children of her own and continued to speak into the lives of her 17 grand, and 24 great grandchildren. She cultivated in her progeny strong family values and an even stronger reliance on faith. Enid was never slow to pray and to sing songs of joy and encouragement to cheer any heart. She loved nothing more than spending time with family and giving from the wealth of her life experiences. She was always positive and always faithful, reminding us that any challenge in life can be overcome through faith and fortitude.

Yes Enid Segree Hall, one of the unsung heroes of our modern age, whose contributions to humanity will not be measured in accolades heralded from billboards, but with the light that shines brightly in the hearts and minds of the people she touched and brought joy to every day. To know her was to love her, and to mourn her now, though a pain that will never go away, is also a joy that will never cease knowing that her memory lives on through time immemorial.
