Tribute & Message From The Family

On the morning of Sunday, April 25, 2021 Manuel Maria Valera Baez, devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was called home at the age of 88. Manuel was born on May 20, 1932 in the Dominican Republic to his parents Jose Maria Valera and Cresenia Maria Baez; he was the oldest of 5 siblings. Manuel was married to Mercedes for almost 60 years. They migrated to the United States, where they built a beautiful life together. Manuel has 3 children, 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Manuel was cherished and loved by everyone who knew him, he was the epitome of what every man should be. He was full of life and laughter with a light that radiated out of him. Everyone who has crossed paths with Manuel has left with something, most often a laugh. It was his joy to bring a smile to everyone's face with his jokes. Manuel will be remembered for many things, but if we could sum it up into a few words it would be kindness, humility, hardworking, selflessness, honesty, gentleness and humor. Manuel has left a void in our hearts but heaven has gained an angel.

A celebration of Manuel's life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY on Saturday, May 8th from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.
