Tribute & Message From The Family

Alberto Alicea of Pawling New York, formerly of Puerto Rico and the Bronx, passed away on March 14th 2021. He was 82 years old. Born in Puerto Rico to Alberto and Encarcion Alicea, Alberto was 1 of 6 children. He was raised in Puerto Rico where he worked on the family farm as a child. Alberto would move to New York in 1952 with his father and mother. He attended Morris High School until 9th grade.

Alberto would go to work for a furrier where he made coats and rugs. In 1956 he meet the love of his life Alicia Martinez at a candy store in the Bronx. The couple later married in St Agustine's church in Franklyn avenue.

Alberto and his wife Alicia were blessed with 4 wonderful children. They raised their children in the Bronx while Alberto owned and operated a grocery business (New Way Grocery) and a construction business (Metro Renovators). Alberto was an entrepreneur and always enjoyed working for himself.

In his spare time Alberto would love to work out at the Gym where he did body building. He also enjoyed traveling back and forth to Puerto Rico. His real love was going back to his roots on the farm. He had a real gift for making fruit drinks from his fruit tree's both in the Bronx and Puerto Rico. To say he had a green thumb would be an understatement. He loved family, especially his grandchildren. He was a true family man and provider.

Alberto will be remembered as a family man who was determined and wise. He was stubborn yet kind hearted. He would light up any room he walked into and would alway be there to help someone in need.

A celebration of Alberto's life will be held at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue in Pelham New York on Sunday March 21st from 2-6 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Catharines Church on Monday March 22nd at 10:00 am. Burial will be at St. Raymonds Cemetery in the Bronx.
