Condolence & Memory Journal

Hey Uncle Paul,
Well this is your first Thanksgiving in heaven. Mom Mom is making polenta like you never tasted before. Every day is thanksgiving in Our Father's house I'll bet. Say hi to my Dad.
First Thanksgiving and Christmas Aunt Mickey, Lori, Kathy, Maria and your grandkids won't have you in body. A big void, but love never dies. The subject of our conversations would invariably turn to one of them, and it was always good news. I'm told we will all know each other in a new and better way when we meet up again through Jesus Christ.
Some of my fondest memories are the family barbeques as a kid, the laughing, and hollering, too much food, Uncle Frank on the piano. That Memorial Day me and Peter marching in the Pelham parade with the Boy Scouts, you and my Dad up ahead with the Trustees.
Always looked up to you Uncle Paul, big, strong, tough, super-duper athlete. But you also demonstrated the definition of what a real man is, a real Christian man. You walked the walk. Sacrificial, caring, and not afraid to cry for a loved one. The way you doted on Mom Mom. I would belly laugh watching her nitpick at you about some job you had just did for her, putting in a new bathroom, new gas stove, and you telling her to go fly a kite, then taking her to Saturday evening mass at St. Catherine's.
Or how many times you took care of your younger brother Frank Peter. You were always there for him. For me too. Taking me to the hospital when I took a swan dive off Mom Mom's couch, giving me good counsel when I needed it and.lots of laughs. How you where there for all of us when you lost your big brother. Yup, you were a good role model.
Bet the blue fish are always running up there. But Rocky and the Apostles will show you the hot spots.
See ya,
Richard Daronco

Dear Mickey, Paul will always be missed by all who knew him. We have been friends for so many years and have had so many good times together. Hopefully he is on a boat with "Rocky" fishing somewhere.
I got into boating because of Paul both here and down at Sanibel Harbor, Fla. No one could make "Palenta" like Paul. "Rest in Peace my Friend" Pat Grosso

Dear Mickey and all the family, We are so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. He certainly was a wonderful man and we know he will be greatly missed by us all. You are in our thoughts and prayers. We have such wonderful memories of Paul from running into him at DeCicco's, at his Mom's or just anywhere we would run into him in Pelham. He always had a big smile and a wonderful greeting! We want to express our sincerest sympathy to Mickey and family on the passing of Paul.
Over the years, we had many fond memories. Memories are long lasting and are not easy to forget.
One of those memories was when he was Supervisor and I asked him to be our Santa Cause at our Court Clerks annual Christmas party. He dressed up as Santa Clause and greeted all the attendees and gave each a gift. This event became the talk of the Westchester Court Clerks Association.
Paul will be sorely missed by many.

Lori, We are so sorry for your loss. I only had the pleasure of meeting your Dad a few times, but was so impressed with his energy, intelligence, kindness & the way he adored your Mom and you! He embraced your Steele family & it was evident that he was so very proud of you & your accomplishments! Your Mom, you & your sisters & all your family are in our thoughts & prayers! We hope that, in time, your wonderful memories of your Dad will bring you some comfort.

Mickey, I'll never forget Paul. I was my privilege to have sat on the Board with him for so many years. Lorraine and I remember him as a warm and jovial man who always had a smile on his face. He served our community for years and we are grateful for that. Paul will be missed. We are keeping Paul and your Family in our thoughts and prayers
