Mary and I shared in many Estonian activities, including folk dancing. Over the years she encouraged and blessed me in many ways, professionally and as a friend. I miss her. Jennifer Benichou

Mary was a wonderful colleague at the community college. Whenever we talked about work issues, she
was always very supportive. Mary was a warm, friendly person who handled with her illness with grace.
Her passing is a big loss for students and faculty at BMCC. My condolences to her family

Mary was not only a thoughtful colleague but also a generous one with her time, expertise and knowledge. When I first met her she was the schedule coordinator in our department, but she soon became someone I could easily go to with questions or for advice. Mary was also modest, never boasting about her many accomplishments, and readily sharing resources at her disposal. Above all, I found her admirable as she managed her illness with quiet resolve. I will miss her.

I am a colleague of Mary's at BMCC-CUNY. I have known Mary for 20 years, and the first course I taught at BMCC was offered to me by Mary. It has been such a wonderful pleasure knowing her all these years and working with her. She was an exceptionally lovely person, and she remains in my heart - always. I will always remember her and I'm grateful to have had the chance to know and work with her. She was such a special and wonderful person and colleague. Mary - I will miss you. Fare thee well, dear friend and colleague.

For seven years, Mary and I shared an office at BMCC. Simply put, she was a kind, selfless, loving, amazingly smart woman. We bonded immediately; not over language and teaching and all things academic (though we often discussed our approaches to teaching and our students), but over our love of the Mets and Knicks. As Mary used to say: misery loves company. Mary and I experienced many rites of passage while together in our office including the births of her much loved neices and nephews and my grandchildren, the deaths of our mothers, and Mary's courageous battle during the last years of her life. We laughed (I will never forget her giggle) and cried together like few office mates do. I will cherish her memory and think of her smile and laugh forever.
