Tribute & Message From The Family

She was extremely strong and loving.

After a long, courageous battle against cancer, Rita J. Ragaglia of Rye Brook, New York passed away on August 19th 2020, surrounded by loving family. She was 72 years old.

Born in Yonkers, NY to Anthony and Dorothy DiDomizio, Rita was one of 5 children. She was raised in the Park Hill section of Yonkers and attended P.S. 23 and Benjamin Franklin Middle School, before graduating from Commerce High School. Rita's first job was at the ATt&T phone company. She worked at the phone company for approximately seven years before working for Estee Lauder where she fulfilled her passion for style and elegance. Rita worked as an account executive for various cosmetic companies; Yves Saint Laurent, Estee Lauder, L'Oreal and later Sanofi. After retiring from cosmetics, Rita went to work for William Pitt, Julia B. Fee Sothebys International Realty as an administrative assistant for 13 years where she received the June Ruggiero Employee achievement award. To say Rita was a hard worker would be an understatement.

Rita met the love of her life Peter Ragaglia through a friendly introduction. Their first date was at the movie theatre watching Green Apples and as the saying goes…the rest is history. The couple married in 1993 at their home in Pelham Manor. She raised her son Peter while working and traveling for her job.
Rita will be remembered as a meticulous, stylish and warm person. She was extremely strong and loving. In her spare time she loved to read, listen to music, travel, cook and watch movies.

Rita is survived by her husband Peter, her son Peter II, her brother James, her sisters Dorothy DiDomizio Croft and Carol (Shirley) DiDomizio. She will be missed by her many nephews, nieces and everyone she knew. Rita is predeceased by her brother Anthony.

A celebration of Rita's life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY on Tuesday, August 25 from 4-7 pm. A funeral procession will leave Pelham Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 26th at 10:15 am and arrive at St. Raymond's Cemetery where Rita will be laid to rest. Rita was the nicest and the strongest person I have ever met. She was truly amazing. Her work ethic was second to none. This earned her the Julia B. Fee Sotheby's International Realty Staff Award. She will truly be missed. May she Rest in Peace. Sending lots of hugs to her family!

My Dear Sister Rita, how I miss you so much already. I am sad that I didn't get to say goodbye to you in person. I wanted so much to hold your hand in mine and hug you close while I told you how much I love you and how much you have always meant to me. I do take comfort in knowing that Pete and Jimmy were able to pass on my goodbye to you and give you a hug for me.

I will miss our talks and being able to go to you for advice about anything. You loved your family and friends and showed that love in so many ways. You were always ready and willing to lend a hand. You were a terrific wife and mom. You and Pete have so much to be proud of. Your son is a good man and has already accomplished so much. He will continue to do good things with his life. You were sophisticated but not cold and you would always light up a room when you entered. I will love and miss you forever.

Say hello to grandma, mommy, Anthony and R.J. for me. Except for grandma, you all were taken away from us far too young. Even though I have so many great memories with all of you, I wanted many more. Every once in awhile I will do or say something that makes me think of one of you and it brings an instant smile to my face and a warm feeling in my heart knowing that all of you are a part of me and that you will live on in my memories forever.

Forever in my heart, memories and prayers, your sister Carol

Rita was an amazing person who loved her family, her job and her friends. I was very fortunate to be able to know and work with Rita for her entire career at Sotheby's. She ran a tight ship and we all loved her for that. She showed great strength and courage during her entire illness and she was an inspiration to all of us. May she Rest In Peace . Linda Darer

Rita and I shared fun, laughs and deep discussions about everything. We bonded over Godiva chocolate. She was the best...it was my pleasure to be her friend. Gail Feeney
