Clive T. Chakavarika of New Rochelle, NY passed away on May 17, 2019, on the eve of his graduation. He was 21years old.
Clive was born in Harare, Zimbabwe on 21 November 1997, to Emily and Mack Chakavarika. He was the eldest grandchild to Mr. and Mrs. Bote, his maternal grandparents, and the 12th grandchild to the late Mr. and Mrs. Chakavarika his paternal grandparents.
From an early age, Clive stood out as a gentleman, loving, caring, giving selflessly and mature beyond his years. He was very smart, independent and highly principled. He knew what he wanted and would go after it. He first attended Shiriyedenga Primary School where he was a Prefect by the time he moved to Denmark, Copenhagen in 2008. In Denmark, he attended Rygaards International School, excelling in his academics and discovered his passion for the outdoors and track events. He enjoyed the outdoors, sleepovers and took care of his brother Trevor.
He moved to the United States on 31 March 2010, first attending OLPH middle school from the 7th Grade. He was part of the basketball team in the middle school and made many friends. He graduated with high honors from OLPH school before heading to Iona Preparatory School for his high school. At Iona, he joined the track team, and excelling academically. He graduated from Iona Preparatory School with honors as class of 2015.
At his passing, he had just completed his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Integrated Neuroscience from Binghamton University and was set to graduate on 18 May 2019. Clive loved God, attending the JCC AFM in New Jersey with his family. He made many friends at Binghamton, all of whom shared how amazing he was. He had planned to be a Physical Therapist one day, and had laid out a plan on how he was going to make it.
Clive is survived by his parents, Mack and Emily Chakavarika, and his two brothers, Trevor and Gabriel, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
To his family and friends, Clive is irreplaceable. He touched lives, he loved, he cared, he mentored and counselled.
Clive came into this life, and made a lasting impact in his 21 years. Our hearts are forever broken, but we know our son, brother and friend is smiling and at peace!
A celebration of Clive's life will take place at Trinity St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 311 Huguenot St., New Rochelle NY. on Saturday June 1st from 12:00 to 1PM. A service will begin at 1:00 PM. For more information or to leave a condolence please visit pelhamfuneral.com
Condolence & Memory Journal
I had the honor to meet Clive during the time that I was Director of Operations for AZOR Home Care. Clive volunteered there the Summer before he began his College Career. Clive mastered every task set before him. He was a part of a team. This was the beginning of his Career Goal to be a Physical Therapist.
So much has changed since then. The biggest change being, that yesterday, I was told that Clive passed away.
Here is what "will not" change: I am better for knowing a Young Man who was exceptional and brought Grace to the beginning of each day that we spent together.
Clive, you will lead the Angels with your Smile.
I pray for your Mom, your Dad, Mack (Who I hope remember's me) and your brothers.
Rest Well, Buddy,
Frank Conway

I was shocked and saddened to hear of this. Clive was a gentleman and a hard worker. I remember being moved by his college essay about being a boy in Zimbabwe. Clive always seemed at peace as he moved through his days at Iona Prep. He gave light to the world, and would have given much more. I am very sorry about your loss.
