Condolence & Memory Journal

I knew Mr. Rugerio as a Sr. High School student at PMHS 77-78. I bought a 65 red mustang convertible for $100. It didn't run so I asked Mr. Rugerio if he would help me figure out why and help me fix it. He came to my where it was parked in the garage. He advised that I dismantle the engine, which I did photographing where everything went so I could put it all back together. When it was part he took a quick look at at valves that were shot and said all I needed was $35 worth of new valves, which I replaced and reassembled the engine. Lou would come by and give me tips when i worked on it. He would bounce his Camel cigarettes off off the mustang before he lit up. When I (we!) we're done it ran like a top. I gave Lou a Timex watch for helping me. He was really grateful. What a class act he was. I wish I knew him better.

Knowing the Ruggiero family for 60+ years, I can truly say Lou was certainly one special person. Over the years of knowing him, he was a mentor, a friend and had the qualities that made one truly like being around him. His knowledge of mechanical things, sports, firefighting issues and life in general were second to none.
He truly was one of a kind as he would reach out to help anyone that needed his knowledge. This life was made better for those that knew him and now that he has gone to rest eternally, we that are left behind are better for him touching our lives. Rest in peace my friend as your legacy will live on. God speed Chief!
